Argan Oil

Argan Oil

Argan oil is extracted from the fruit of the argan tree which is endemic to the arid and semi-arid regions of south-west Morocco. Argan oil has been known for centuries for its culinary and medicinal uses. Scientific research has demonstrated the virtues of argan oil, and contributed to its worldwide recognition. Thus, it is greatly coveted by major cosmetics laboratories such as L’Oréal, the world leader in the sector, and also have combined it in their recipes.

Production Steps

” To extract one kg of argan oil, 30 and 33 kg of well-dried raw material are needed. The raw fruit is de-pulped and hand-crushed to yield two kg of kernels/seeds, a process that takes 3 days to complete. The oil is extracted from these kernels.”
The first three stages are completed by women members of the cooperatives. It’s a laborious activity, but it remains the only source of income for the majority of women in the Argan Grove region.

GIE Targanine is one of the pioneers in the production of “Arganati“, roasted argan oil and “Arganium“, unroasted argan oil. All production phases are meticulously controlled not only by management within the GIE member cooperatives, but also by the GIE Quality team, which plans regular visits to the member cooperatives, the exclusive suppliers of the oil sold by GIE Targanine .

Arganati” argan oil is sold in bulk and also packaged in several volumes ranging from
30ml bottles to one-ton IBCs.
GIE’s Argan oil has taken part in several tasting competitions organized since 2014 by ADA “the Agricultural Development Agency” in partnership with PAMPAT .
