Reforestation
GIE Targanine, which includes six cooperatives, has undertaken a series of significant actions to help preserve the argan grove while actively involving women members of the cooperatives in these initiatives. The main aim of these actions is to raise awareness among these women about the crucial need for the protection of the argan tree, an endemic tree that plays a major social, environmental and economic role.
At the heart of our efforts is the argan tree planting program, which extends from the identifying suitable plots to monitoring in the field. The success of these plantations is essential to ensure the sustainability of the argan grove, but depends on a number of factors such as ownership of the project by local communities, the quality of the seedlings used and effective irrigation.
As we are aware of these challenges, we have taken significant steps to ensure the success of the plantations. In particular, we have called on experts and seasoned technicians and engineers who are knowledgeable in the field of argan tree preservation. These experts play a crucial role not only in identifying suitable plots for planting but also in supervising the planting process itself.

The process begins with a careful analysis of potential planting areas taking into account not only ecological viability but also the positive social impact on local communities especially on women cooperators. Next, the experts work in collaboration with cooperative members to ensure sensible ownership of the project.
To improve the quality of the seedlings, rigorous criteria are established, and sustainable farming practices are implemented. The use of high-quality seedlings contributes not only to the survival of the trees, but also to the quality of the argan nuts produced, ensuring a sustainable source of income for the women cooperators.
Irrigation is another essential component of the planting process. Experts work with local communities to set up efficient irrigation systems, taking into account local climatic conditions and the specific needs of the argan tree.
Finally, long-term field monitoring is carried out to assess the growth of the tree, identify any problems and adjust practices if necessary. This holistic approach, from plot identification to planting and monitoring, guarantees a significant contribution to the preservation of the argan grove while strengthening the involvement of women cooperative members in this crucial process.
