Argan Oil

Argan oil is obtained from the fruit of the argan tree, the tree endemic to the arid and semi-arid regions of southwest Morocco. Argan oil has been known for centuries for its culinary and medicinal use. Scientific research has demonstrated the virtues of argan oil, and thanks to these various studies, this oil is recognized worldwide and is used by major cosmetics laboratories such as L’Oreal, the world leader in the sector and also as a healthy gastronomic product.

the stages of production

« To produce a liter of argan oil, it takes between 30 to 33 kg of raw material well dried which is then depulped and crushed manually to obtain two kg of kernels, a process that requires 3 days of work. The oil is extracted from these kernels. »

The first three steps are carried out by the women members of the cooperatives. It is a laborious job but it remains the only source of income for the majority of females in the region of the argan tree.

GIE Targanine is among the pioneers in the production of roasted argan oil « Arganati » and unroasted « Arganium ». All stages of production are carefully controlled not only by the managers within the cooperative members of the GIE but also by the Quality team of the GIE which plans regular visits to the member cooperatives, the only suppliers of the oil sold by the GIE Targanine.

Argan oil “Arganati” is sold in bulk and also packaged in several volumes ranging from 30ml bottles to IBC of one ton.

The Argan oil of the GIE has participated in several tasting competitions organized since 2014 by the ADA « Agricultural Development Agency » in partnership with the PAMPAT
